How to Become a CNA in Seattle
A Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) is a caregiving role in a healthcare setting. Although patients meet with doctors and registered nurses as well, it is often the CNA they see most often every day. The CNA is in charge of helping a patient complete daily activities they are no longer able to do on their own. Some examples are CNAs helping patients bathe, dress, eat, and lightly exercise while they are bedridden.
To become a CNA in Seattle, you must become licensed in the state of Washington. Each state has its own regulations. Washington state requires CNAs to earn a CNA certificate, pass the state exam, and register as a licensed CNA on the Washington Nurse Registry.
Washington has one of the highest CNA employment rates per population, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. There are more than 40,000 CNAs currently employed. Seattle, which employs more than 2,000 CNAs, is ranked in the top 18% for CNA wages paying nearly $15/hour.
Walla Walla, Washington is one of the countries top metropolitan areas with the highest concentration of nursing assistant jobs; there are 570 CNAs employed at a mean wage of nearly $13/hour and nearly $27,000/year.

Top 10 Rated CNA Programs in Seattle
American Healthcare CNA School

American Healthcare CNA met my all my needs to obtain my certification. They have great schedules and I signed up for the weekend program. The staff was great and worked around my busy schedule which I am grateful for. I had done my research and called to other places in which if I had gone else where I would had to pay hundreds of dollars more. American Healthcare CNA preps you for what you need to pass the state exams and offer the best price in the Northwest. Another great aspect of their program is that you know ahead of time where you will be completing clinicals in which other programs, you do not know where you will be going. The program is already well established in their community. Drame is an awesome instructor who is witty, funny, straight to the point and very engaging. Ruth is compassionate and always wanting to help and Bessy who is the admin there is very supportive and makes sure you have everything you need. Thank you American Healthcare CNA! - Danely L.

My major in becoming a certified nursing assistant is very competitive and challenging and requires a lot of focus and attention to the details because eventually I will be taking everything I learned and trained for out into the real world as a real career path. That focuses on something that I love to do which is working with people and being able to provide them with the care and need base support that they seek. I am truly excited to be taking this program to get further along in my life. - Anonymous

I've been attending LWIT since summer of 13 and have not had any complaints about it or the teachers thus far. While working on my prereqs for nursing, I've encountered a couple of tough classes, but all with great teachers. Granted, I am not getting financial aid, so I have not had much experience with the admin side of the school, but the counselors are generally good about getting back to you should you miss a call with one. It may not be the best school, but it's a good one with teachers who seem to care. - Kari C.

Doris was amazing! She is so knowledgeable and really works hard to help her students not only in class but at clinical as well. The class is really quick but with that she takes time to make sure everyone understands what we're learning to ensure we succeed! As a an update: I just took my CNA state exam and with the clear knowledge taught at Blossom I passed both my written and skills test on my first try! - Myranda V.

My experience with Crystal Point CNA was rather delightful. The whole staff is so welcoming, the classes were engaging, and the book is so easy to read and understand. Both instructors have a deep passion for nursing that is easily seen in the way they teach and talk about healthcare. In addition, they provide free coffee in the morning! There was a wide range of ages in my class and we all did very well in the daily quizzes which proves that this school is effective in teaching anybody basic healthcare. I highly recommend this school! - Jhasmine R.

I recently finished the CNA course at the beginning of December. Ms. Jackie was my course instructor and was able to guide me down a path to success. She encouraged good habits and behavior that if you are planning on taking this course I would listen to and follow strictly. I just passed my state boards and became certified on December 30th. Without her 50 years of experience I don't know if I would have passed the test the first time. There is a 40% failure rate on the state exam so take it seriously. Divine is a fantastic place to learn and grow in this career. It is a small school, but if you can look passed the lower budget that the school has please see the decades of experience that will shape you into the the future of the medical industry. - Gage R.

I'm so glad I chose NATI for my CNA course. I just passed my CNA exam, and I can definitely say that the school goes above and beyond to prepare you for the test. The staff are helpful about answering questions, caring, and genuinely want you to succeed. The school is professionally run and very organized. They really provide you with all the resources and information that you need to do well on your exam. Although they're a bit more expensive than other schools, the extra investment is worth it in the end. My only qualm would be my experience at the nursing home where I did my clinicals. That part was not as well-run, but that may be out of the control of the school. I still learned a lot though and would highly recommend NATI for becoming a CNA! - Cathy C.
